Despite the drive towards clean audits, most higher education entities are faced with significant audit opinion regressions. With the aim to improve overall audit outcomes, the presentation assesses areas that mainly contribute to the regression of the audit opinions.
This session explores an engaging case study that tackles best practices that significantly improve the audit process and audit turnaround times. The case study is based on a TVET College in KwaZulu-Natal that was recently assisted and resulted in the improvement of its audit opinion. The presentation will delve into challenges faced, strategies employed, key outcomes achieved, and lessons learned that can be applied broadly within the higher education sector.
The Key Learning Objectives in this session include the understanding of critical factors influencing audit turnaround times in higher educational institutions, the understanding of applicable legislation and laws that regulate the sector, as well as imparting practical strategies that driving operational efficiency and accountability.
