Andrew Jabbitt
Head of Data and Analytics at a national retailer

Andrew’s career spans three distinct phases. He began as an Attorney in Durban in the 1990s, where he played a pioneering role in introducing word processing and other digital office solutions to replace Dictaphones and typewriters. He then moved into a long international consulting career, specialising in enterprise-scale data warehousing solutions for clients across the UK, Europe, and South Africa.

Today, Andrew leads Data and Analytics at a major South African retailer, where he focuses on delivering measurable value to internal stakeholders.

Outside of work, Andrew is married with two children and enjoys coding in Python on weekends — when he’s not cheering on the Springboks.

Presentation: Agentic AI: The What, the Who, and the How

Agentic AI is one of today’s most talked-about technologies, but what does it actually mean? At its core, it’s about creating AI systems that don’t just follow rigid rules but can make decisions, adapt to changing information, and act with a degree of autonomy — more like a helpful assistant than a calculator.

  • The What: We’ll explain Agentic AI in simple terms and show how it differs from traditional “deterministic” systems that always give the same fixed result, like a calculator or database.
  • The Who: We’ll explore who can benefit — from individuals using Agentic AI to boost productivity, to organisations applying it for big-picture planning and strategy.
  • The How: We’ll look at practical ways to build and guide Agentic AI responsibly, with a live demo to illustrate how it works. We’ll also discuss why human oversight (“human in the loop”) remains essential, along with key governance considerations.

This session will leave you with a clear understanding of what Agentic AI is, why it matters, and how it could reshape both personal productivity and organisational decision-making.
