Managing Partner at NK Intel
Kutlwano Ngwarati is an artificial intelligence, data and digital transformation leader, entrepreneur and speaker with more than a decade of experience spanning engineering, data science, enterprise analytics, AI strategy and organisational transformation. Her work focuses on helping organisations translate emerging technologies into practical business value while addressing the governance, workforce and leadership challenges created by rapid advances in artificial intelligence.
She is the Founder and CEO of High Risers AI, where she works at the intersection of artificial intelligence and workforce transformation. High Risers helps organisations understand how generative AI can reshape roles, tasks and business processes, identifying opportunities for automation and augmentation while supporting workforce readiness and reskilling. Ngwarati's approach emphasises practical adoption: moving AI beyond experimentation to measurable improvements in productivity, capability and organisational performance.
Ngwarati is also Managing Partner at NK Intel, an enterprise AI governance and advisory business. Her work addresses a growing challenge for boards and executive teams: how to adopt AI at scale while maintaining appropriate oversight, accountability and risk management. This includes helping organisations understand where AI systems are being used, how they affect business decisions and operations, and what governance structures are required to manage them responsibly.
An industrial engineer by training, Ngwarati began her career in engineering before moving into data science, analytics and artificial intelligence. She has subsequently held senior leadership positions across data engineering, analytics and AI, including roles at Lombard Insurance and Exxaro Resources. This combination of technical and executive experience has given her a practical understanding of both the potential of AI and the organisational complexities involved in deploying advanced technologies within established enterprises.
Her academic background combines engineering, business and technology governance. Ngwarati holds a BSc Honours degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and an MBA from Wits Business School. She has also pursued further studies in business and in the rapidly developing fields of AI law, policy and governance.
Her contribution to the technology and data sector has received industry recognition. In 2023, Ngwarati was named Data & Analytics Leader of the Year at the DataConian Hall of Fame Awards organised by Corinium Global Intelligence, recognising her leadership and contribution to enterprise data and analytics.
As a speaker and industry contributor, Ngwarati brings together technical knowledge, strategic business thinking and a strong focus on the human implications of technological change. Her areas of interest include generative AI, responsible AI adoption, AI governance, workforce transformation, data strategy and the changing role of leadership in AI-enabled organisations.
Her perspective is particularly relevant to executives and decision-makers seeking to understand not simply what artificial intelligence can do, but how organisations can implement it responsibly, develop the capabilities required to use it effectively, and convert technological innovation into sustainable business and workforce value.
