Johan Muller is an admitted attorney, strategic advisor and transport and infrastructure specialist with more than 15 years' experience advising governments, cities, development institutions and private-sector organisations in South Africa and internationally.

He holds an LLB from Stellenbosch University and an LLM in Company and Competition Law from the University of South Africa, and has completed specialist postgraduate and executive training in areas including transport planning, smart cities, infrastructure and Public-Private Partnerships.

Johan's work sits at the intersection of transport, cities, infrastructure, commercial strategy and new delivery models. He has worked on mobility and infrastructure assignments in Africa and internationally, including projects involving the World Bank and GIZ, and has advised cities and public institutions on transport strategy, mobility innovation, infrastructure delivery, transaction advisory and alternative commercial and partnership models.

His experience ranges from public transport and urban mobility to electric mobility, mobility technology and infrastructure programmes. He brings a particular interest in how institutions can move beyond traditional transport procurement towards integrated mobility solutions that respond to user needs, make better use of technology and partnerships, and are commercially and operationally sustainable.

What can be learned from universities and cities globally that are experimenting with different ways of delivering mobility? The session will explore models ranging from institution-owned fleets and outsourced services to partnerships, shared services, on-demand mobility, mobility hubs and Mobility-as-a-Service approaches.
