Qless

Queues at campus food outlets cost students time between lectures and cost vendors sales. Qless replaces those queues with scheduled pickup slots. Students browse menus, order and pay in the app, and choose a collection time. Vendors see each paid order instantly on a dedicated tablet, tap "Mark Ready" when it's done, and the student is notified to collect.

For institutions and their catering partners, Qless offers:

  • Peak demand smoothing. Lunchtime rushes are spread across controlled time slots, which raises throughput at peak hours.
  • No integration. It runs on Qless-supplied devices in kiosk mode, and each outlet sees only its own orders.
  • Real-time vendor dashboard and analytics. Pickup times, order volumes and trends.
  • Direct student marketing. Vendors can push offers and vouchers straight to students' phones.
  • Transparent settlement. Bi-weekly payouts with itemised statements showing every order, fee and net amount.
  • Keeping spend on campus rather than losing it to external delivery apps.

Qless launched at UCT in April 2026 with outlets including Food&Connect, Varsity Fast Food, Prashad Café and Jean's Kitchen. In its first term it had 3 600+ registered students, against a pilot target of 400, and more than 1 000 fulfilled orders.  It is currently expanding its footprint to the University of the Witwatersrand.

Qless is available on the App Store and Google Play.
